It is a consensus that mastering Reading is essential, regarding Reading as the
ability to understand and to interpret. If the student does not have these abilities, it is
possible to consider that he is a poor reader. Therefore, school plays an important role in
the acquisition of this competence by the student, and it is up to the teacher to adopt the
adequate strategies and the methodologies for the teaching, than can or cannot be explicit,
of the strategies that the student must acquire in order to become a fluent and autonomous
reader.
