The intent of this paper is to describe infrastructure planning and investment issues
in urban areas of Nepal. The paper explains succinctly the status of infrastructure and investment
patterns in urban areas, and the policies and programmes undertaken by the government
of Nepal to leverage locally available resources to economic development of the city region.
Lastly, the status of the financial sources and investment pattern is exemplified by taking one
of the fastest growing cities of Nepal.
