Since the concept of poverty has diverse aspects which can be discussed from many angles,
the per capita income has been considered for identification of the poverty conditions in the
present study. Similarly, descriptive, correlation and multiple regression analysis methods have
been used to identify the significant public facilities impacting on income poverty. The result of
the data analysis showed that 24% and 36% of the high and low caste people are under the
poverty line respectively, which is higher than the national average urban poverty of 10%. On the
one hand, among the different facilities, irrigation, vocational training and working on agriculture
have been found to be significant public facilities for high caste households. On the other hand,
vocational training paved road, good health and education have been found to be significant
facilities for the low caste. It means that among different public facilities, such as irrigation,
education, vocational training, public health and paved roads are significant facilities for both of
high and low caste households through which it may be able to reduce the poverty in this
community. It indicates that policy guidelines targeting investment in irrigation, paved roads and
vocational training could enhance access to the economic opportunities among poor people in the
society.
