Abstract
The seeking, need and use of information is very important to all people of all ages. Especially the
elderly who need to seek and use information that is accurate, complete, accurate and reliable.
The study of information seeking in the daily life of the elderly is essential. Research results can
be used to improve the development of information services and information resources to serve
the elderly. To reduce problems such as health problems, life problems. And to improve the
quality of life for the elderly. This study aims to achieve the following research objectives are 1.
To explore information seeking of the elderly in Songkhla Province, Thailand. 2. To understand
information seeking behavior of the elderly in their daily life. The elderly’s club of
Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Songkhla, Thailand, is chosen for this study. The survey,
interview, observation, casual conversation and Looking for information to solve specific problem
are used as research tool in the study. This study found that Highly required of type of
information needed were of respondent’s information is Nutrition and Exercise (85.2%) ;
followed by general health (80.3%) and Current Events/News and Weather (72.1% respectively).
The highly required of the information sources were of respondent’s information sources is TV
(72.19%) ; followed by other club members (65.6%) and age group meeting (55.7%) and 91.80%
use information to improve their health care, (81.97%) use information to make better life
decisions and to better communicate with people. Following every participant (6 participant) that
1 participant per 7 days. Collecting the information by follow them from the morning until night
and make note, sound record, observation and interview. Created 5 theme about Information
behavior relating to everyday life (Activities using information) as follows Healthy Lifestyle, Social
networks, Psychological, Knowledge / cognitive and Economy.
