Abstract | This paper reviews the global evidence on the interaction between a child’s education and child labour. It compares country experiences on the child’s choice of alternative combinations of schooling and labour market involvement and, in case of Vietnam, presents evidence on how that choice has altered over time. The focus of this essay is on policy measures that can alleviate the problem of child labour, especially in relation to its adverse consequences on the child’s education. |
