Abstract
The paper examines the Effect of Migration on the condition and Demand of Residential Housing in the
Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. Data was obtained through the administration of 510 questionnaires
of which 491 was analyzed. The questionnaires was complimented with Focus Group Discussion (FGD) Data
collected were processed using Epi/Info computer software for data entry and SPSS computer software for
data analysis. Frequency distributions tables, and cross tabulation were obtained and subjected to descriptive
statistical analysis The study reveals that 28.1 percent consider income as the most important factor in choice
of residential housing in the FCT , and 49.7 percent of respondent classify the condition of housing unit as
fair. While 33.0 percent identify poor and inadequate social amenities as major residential housing problems
in the FCT. It is imperative therefore that deliberate and concerted effort in provision of infrastructural
facilities, developmental policies, environmental consciousness and private-public participation should be
embarked upon by all stake holders in housing provision or delivery.
