Abstract
The title of the Research is Role of Education in the Selection of Educational Goals as Perceived by University Students. The major objectives of the study were: a) To determine the reasons for their preferences of educational programs; b) To find out the extent of success of university students in joining their preferred educational programs; c) To determine the reasons of the university students for setting their educational goals; and d) To find out the compatibility between the educational programs of university students and their goals. A questionnaire was developed for the collection of data and that was for the students of all faculties of these universities: i) International Islamic University; ii) Quaid-e-Azam University; iii) National University of Modern Languages (NUML); iv) Bahria University; and v) FAST University. Percentage was used as statistical tool. From the study it is concluded: (a) Most of the students were satisfied with the educational system of Pakistan; (b) facilities (Libraries and Laboratories) were not provided to many students; and (c) Most of the students were helped by their teachers; (d) Most of the students wanted good job and high salary from their education. Major recommendations of the study are; (a) Physical facilities may be provided. (b) Lesser fees/Free education may be provided and liaison of job and university may be established as that graduates will fulfill the requirement of their career.
