In the present research, it is analyzed the social panorama of poverty in Latin America
and Ecuador, based on aspects, features and public policies to combat this problem that
nowadays affects everyone.
In addition, a comparative analysis of the behavior and evolution of poverty was
conducted specifically in Ecuador in government of Alianza País, period
2007-2015, with the information provided by the National Institute of Statistics and
Census (INEC), through survey Living conditions (ECV) 2010. This analysis was made
through the three most commonly used methods for calculating poverty; it means, the
method of income or poverty line, the method of unsatisfied basic needs (NBI) and the
calculating rate of Gini.
With this research, we intend to identify the factors that affect the variation in the rate of
poverty, the causes and effects that accompany this phenomenon.
