Abstract
Colombia and Venezuela have become over time in two nations that have strong ties, economic,
political, geographical and migration the frontier shared, extensive, porous, hard, wild, has
served as a bridge for the two countries intertwine. With the arrival of Hugo Chaves as president
in Venezuela in 1995, several changes were initiated in the political and economic system of this
country, which involved a new stage for relations with Colombia. Against this background, it is
appropriate to examine to what extent this new political program affecting the close ties migrant
built on the common border. Who are Colombians who migrate? What are your main
motivations? Venezuelans do they migrate to Colombia? They are some of the questions
addressed by the document and will do so from the perspective of change of power in Venezuela
and Colombia. Similarly it is to establish to what extent the milestones of conflict between the
two countries in the period 1999- 2015 impacted the binational migration.
