The mapping of use and occupation of land is a key support tool for municipal practice
and unquestionable value in the analysis of a territory. The constant changes in the
land use and occupation of the territories make it necessary to have accurate and
updated, for efficient management.
The lack of updated maps in Angola on the use and occupation of land, and particularly
in the province of Huila, boosted the application of a methodology in order to develop
the use of mapping and land cover using high-resolution satellite images and digital
image processing. The availability data from remote sensors associated with digital
processing techniques opened a new window on the use and operation of this type of
remote data, making it possible to study computationally intensive classification
methods and analyze the wealth and the spectral variability of these images.
