Abstract
The aim of this document was to describe the attributional styles related to marital violence
suffered by a group of 150 women who attended to the Kennedy’s II Family Center in Bogotá,
Colombia. This is a descriptive analysis where we use frequency and percental distributions
with a representativeness of 75 percent. We also design an instrument we name Instrument
of Identification of Attributions in Marital Violence which was applied to these women.
As a result of this, we found out that the participants tended to make external, global and
stable attributions of domestic violence; that is, they consider they are mistreated because
of external factors they cannot control. Besides, these women believe these factors not only
affect their marriages but many aspects of their lives as well. Also, they think these factors are
not going to change over time.
