Abstract
The Simple Poverty Scorecard®
uses 10 low-cost indicators from Cameroon’s 2007
Household Survey to estimate the likelihood that a household has consumption below a
given poverty line. Field workers can collect responses in about ten minutes. The
scorecard’s accuracy is reported for a range of poverty lines. The scorecard is a
practical way for pro-poor programs in Cameroon to measure poverty rates, to track
changes in poverty rates over time, and to segment clients for differentiated treatment.
