Abstract
In Nepal community forestry is recognized as a successful environmental management and development
program. Though, the importance of community forest products to the households living in the rural
areas has been increasingly recognized, the program is however, not yet able to fully ensure equitable
and gender sensitive. Detailed analyses of the community forest income distribution within a CFUG and
the distribution of CF land according to different administrative unit remains a critical gap. This study
was conducted in Salghari and Upallopakha CFUG of the Parbat district, Nepal and examines the
inequality in the community forest income distribution within a CFUG as well as the CF land distribution
pattern in the Parbat district. It also investigates the user’s perception on benefit sharing and the CF
benefit to the poor .Focus group discussion, Key informants survey and Household survey methods were
employed to collect the primary data and random sample of 120 respondents were surveyed. Various
secondary sources of information such as CFUG records, research papers, journals, reports and articles
were also reviewed. Along with simple mathematical calculations statistical tests like ANOVA and Chisquare
tests were performed by using Ms-Excel and SPSS for data analysis.
