Background : The young marriage is a marriage performed by a pair of male and female
adolescents, even after they get married they are no longer considered as a teenager, but it also
can not be considered an adult. Indonesia is a country with high the young marriage in the world
(ranked 37) and the second highest in the ASEAN after Kamboja.Kehamilan at a very young age
correlated with maternal mortality and morbidity. (BKKBN, 2012). Girls aged 10-14 years five
times the risk of dying during pregnancy or childbirth compared to the age group of 20-24 years,
while the risk is doubled in the age group 15-19 years.
Objective : To analyze the effect of counseling on adolescent knowledge about the young marriage.
Method : Pre Experimental research design with one group pretest-Posttest. The population in this
study is the student / student class VIII consists of nine classes totaling 309 students. Total sample
of 78 respondents. The sampling technique using multistage random sampling. Collecting data
using questionnaires. Analysis with marginal homogenity test (α = 0.1).
Results : There was an extension of the influence of adolescent knowledge about early marriage in
Class VIII SMP Negeri 4 Banjarmasin. Evidenced by the p-value 0.0016 ≤ α 0.1.
Conclusion : Counseling adolescents about early marriage affect the improvement of knowledge.
