Abstract
Social network analysis showed that Gaborone possesses an abundance of social ties
across both social classes and communally organized groups. All efforts to find socially isolated
groups failed, as would be predicted by social capital theory in a peaceful, prosperous
community. Furthermore, some evidence emerged that a nascent national identity might be
replacing tribal identity.
