Study communities were selected purposively. The choice was based on whether each community was identified as a \"leading pulse growing community\" or mainly a \"cereal growing\" community by the local agricultural offices. \n\nThe sampling frame was built by listing all eligible households (those with mothers and children under the age of 5 years) in each community using the local Health Extension worker's registry.\n\nFinally, individual households\/mother-child pairs were selected randomly. About 8 to 10 trained female data collectors started from a central location in each community and walked in different directions until eligible households were found and the desired sample size was achieved.","coll_mode":["Face-to-face [f2f]"],"coll_situation":"The primary dietary assessment method was food record\/diary. Trained female data collectors stayed with each participant recording all foods\/drinks consumed for the whole day. Both weekdays and weekends were covered in the survey, and the records were not repeated for the same individual.\n\nThe secondary dietary assessment method was a 24-hour recall used to assess dietary diversity and calculate diet diversity scores for all mothers and each of the children between the ages of 6 and 59 months included in the study. Likewise, the Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) was used to assess the consumption frequency of selected food and food groups (such as pulses, fruits and vegetables, animal source foods, etc.)","weight":"No survey weights were used in this survey."}},"data_access":{"dataset_use":{"conf_dec":[{"txt":"The users shall not take any action with the purpose of identifying any individual entity (i.e. person, household, enterprise, etc.) in the micro dataset(s).
