L'Enquête Démographique et de Santé 1987 est la première EDS réalisée au Mali.

Les femmes âgées de 15 à 49 ans résidentes, présentes au moment de l'interview ou en visite dans le ménage, les hommes âgés de 20 à 59 ans et les enfants de moins de 5 ans.
Sample survey data
Trois villages n'ont pu être enquêtés dans la région de Kayes, deux d'entre eux pour cause d'inaccessibilité, et le troisième parce qu'aucun ménage n'y a été tiré, ce qui ramène le nombre total de SE urbaines et villages visités à 148 unités.
Face-to-face
Précédée d'une formation d'une semaine, la saisie de I'EDS-Mali a commencé en avril 1987, soit un mois après le début de l'enquête sur le terrain. Elle s'est poursuivie simultanément avec celle-ci et a pris fin début septembre 1987. Le nettoyage des fichiers a commencé à la suite de la saisie et s'est achevé fin novembre 1987. Dans le même temps, a eu lieu une phase d'élaboration et d'achèvement des programmes préliminaires de tabulation. La tabulation des résultats déñnitifs a eu lieu au mois de mars 1988. L'ensemble de ces opérations a été mené sur micro-ordinateurs, avec le logiciel ISSA (Integrated System for Survey Analysis), et avec l'assistance technique soutenue de l'IRD/Westinghouse.
