    <abstract>The All-Russia Population Census-2002 was conducted for the period of October 9-16 in accordance with the Federal Law No. 8-FZ “On the All-Russia Population Census” of 25 January, 2002, the Resolution of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 231 “On organization of the All-Russia Population Census in 2002” of 12 April, 2002. Coordination of works was managed by the State commission established by the Resolution of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 1434 of 23 December, 1999.</abstract>

      <collSitu>For the All-Russia population census-2002, as well as for the previous censuses, the method of interview and filling in questionnaires by specially trained interviewers - enumerators were used. During the census enumerators visited all quarters of their counting district where people lived or could live (including offices, organizations and enterprises).  Data was also collected at census stationary districts and in exceptional cases by telephone calls.</collSitu>
