The Taabo HDSS started surveillance activities in early 2009 and the man-made Lake Taabo is a key eco-epidemiological feature. Since inception, there has been a strong interest in research and integrated control of water-associated diseases such as schistosomiasis and malaria. The Taabo HDSS has generated setting-specific evidence on the impact of targeted interventions against malaria, schistosomiasis and other neglected tropical diseases. The Taabo HDSS consists of a small town, 13 villages and over 100 hamlets. At the end of 2013, a total population of 42 480 inhabitants drawn from 6707 households was under surveillance. Verbal autopsies have been conducted to determine causes of death. Repeated cross-sectional epidemiological surveys on approximately 5-7% of the population and specific, layered-on haematological, parasitological and questionnaire surveys have been conducted. The Taabo HDSS provides a database for surveys, facilitates interdisciplinary research, as well as surveillance, and provides a platform for the evaluation of health interventions."},"method":{"data_collection":{"data_collectors":[{"name":"Taabo HDSS","abbreviation":"","affiliation":"CSRS"}],"frequency":"Threer rounds per year","coll_mode":"Proxy Respondent [proxy]","research_instrument":"The following forms were used to collect the social and demographic data:\n- In-Migration Paper\n- Out-Migration Paper\n- Pregnancy Paper\n- Issue And Morbidity Of Pregnancy Paper\n- Death Paper\n- Entry And Exit Provisional Paper\n- New Member Paper\n- New Household Paper\n- Counting Paper\n- Internal Migration Paper\n- External Migration Paper\n- Remark Paper\n- Changing Of Head Household Paper\n- Proposition Of Changing Of Head Household Paper\n- Autopsy Verbal Paper","coll_situation":"In average, the duration of the interview was one hour. \n\nThe data collection team included:\n- a leader of station\n- an administrative and financial assistant\n- a data manager\n- a manager of all person who collect data (supervisor and data collector)\n- one supervisor of data operator\n- three data operators\n- four supervisors of data collectors\n- twelve data collectors\n- two supervisors of event (migration and verbal autopsy)","sampling_procedure":"Not Applicable","sampling_deviation":"None","act_min":"The supervisor is responsible for the performance of the hearing officer he had under his direction. This verification will be carried out through sheets of controls developed for this purpose. Following deposits questionnaires to the field manager, it will carry out a second check of each questionnaire, a check fallacy or omissions. It will transmit the duly verified questionnaires entry through the supervisor seizure operations. A third check will be made and the entry will begin. However filters and controls implemented at the entry platform to allow three data entry operators to capture the maximum of errors that have escaped the manual checks. \n\nWhen during the seizure of the information is not updated by the data entry operators, such information will be directly caught by the manager of the database with SQL server.
