Core ICT industries were industries comprising the Information Economy (IE). The Information Economy is a term used to describe the economic and social value created through the ability to rapidly exchange information at anytime, anywhere to anyone. A distinctive characteristic of the information economy is the intensive use, by businesses of ICT for the collection, storage, processing and transmission of information. The use of ICT is supported by supply of ICT products from an ICT-producing sector through trade.\n\nInformation Economy is composed of the Information and Communication Technology Sector and Content and Media Sector. It has the same industry strata as that of the 2013 ASPBI.\n\nEstablishments engaged in the core ICT industries were completely enumerated, regardless of employment size. \n\nThe establishments classified in the non-core ICT industries and with total employment of 20 and over were covered on a 20 percent sampling basis for each of the industry domain at the national level. The questionnaires were administered by the DSOs, SCOs, Provincial Staff and hired SRs to sample establishments in accordance with the timetable. Extra copies of questionnaires were brought by the enumerator in case of lost or changed form. The kind-of-activity or business (Item 2) or Income (Item 11)  was checked to ensure whether the questionnaire was appropriate for the establishments at the sector level. Sample establishments were encouraged to accomplish and submit the questionnaires online. Collection date was set with respondents using acknowledgement receipt form (ITSD-ADM Form 5).\n\nDistribution was undertaken for a period of one month starting 15 September 2014 to 17 October 2014 for 2013 SICT.
