The Public Opinion Research Group surveyed 29 countries in FY2012 (July 2011-June 2012), 41 countries in FY2013 (July 2012-June 2013), 42 countries in FY2014 (July 2013-June 2014), and 35 countries In FY2015 (July 2014-June 2015). In FY2016, surveys were conducted in 45 countries. Nearly all of the World Bank Group's client countries are surveyed in every three-year cycle. Participants were drawn from the Office of the President/Prime Minister; office of a minister; office of a parliamentarian; employees of ministries/ministerial departments or implementation agencies; Project Management Units (PMUs) overseeing implementation of projects or consultants/contractors working on WBG-supported projects/programs; local government officials or staff; bilateral/multilateral agencies; private sector organizations; private foundations; the financial sector/private banks; NGOs/community-based organizations; the media; independent government institutions; trade unions; faith-based groups; youth groups; academia/research institutes/think tanks; and the judiciary branch. Via Post and email/ Online. The results of this year’s Country Survey were compared to those in the Country Survey conducted in FY ’12 (response rate was 31%, N=96). Although the FY ’12 and FY ’16 COS recruited respondents from the same stakeholder groups, the samples from both years were quite small, making it impractical to attempt weighting the samples to achieve approximate equivalence. Thus, it should be noted that differences between the two COS may be due to actual changes within the country, but could also represent changes in the respondent samples across the two years.
