A multi-stage cluster sample of households. One individual within the age range of the survey was selected per household. See p. 7-9 of survey report for further detail.
The overall response rate was 99% for step 1 and 2 (questionnaire response), 96.9% for blood glucose and cholesterol and 94.8% for collection of urinary samples.
Analysis weights were calculated by taking the inverse of the probability of selection of each participant. These weights were adjusted for differences in the age-sex composition of the sample population as compared to the target population.

Blood glucose, cholesterol and triglycerides were measured on the spot using CardioCheck machine. Spot urine sample was collected and transferred to the central laboratory at JDWNRH for analysis for sodium and creatinine to determine the mean salt intake using Easylyte plus Na/K/Cl analyzer (Medica Corporation, USA).
