This is the second GYTS conducted by Mexico.
The GYTS is a school-based survey which uses a self-administered questionnaire to monitor tobacco use among youth and to guide the implementation and evaluation of tobacco prevention and control programmes.

GYTS uses a global standardized methodology that includes a two-stage sample design with schools selected with a probability proportional to enrollment size. The classes within selected schools are chosen randomly and all students in selected classes are eligible to participate in the survey.
A total of 1,374 students aged 13-15 participated in the Mexico - Cuernavaca GYTS.
A total of 956 students aged 13-15 participated in the Mexico - Chetumal GYTS.
A total of 1,614 students aged 13-15 participated in the Mexico - Guadalajara GYTS.
A total of 1,385 students aged 13-15 participated in the Mexico - Juarez GYTS
A total of 1,334 students aged 13-15 participated in the Mexico - Mexico City GYTS.
A total of 953 students aged 13-15 participated in the Mexico - Nuevo Laredo GYTS.
A total of 1,183 students aged 13-15 participated in the Mexico - Puebla GYTS.
A total of 1,380 students aged 13-15 participated in the Mexico - Oaxaca GYTS.
A total of 1,352 students aged 13-15 participated in the Mexico - Tapachula GYTS.
A total of 1,447 students aged 13-15 participated in the Mexico - Tijuana GYTS.
Cuernavaca
The school response rate was 100.0%, the class response rate was 100.0%, the student response rate was 93.4%, and the overall response rate was 93.4%.
Chetumal
The school response rate was 90.0%, the class response rate was 100.0%, the student response rate was 93.3%, and the overall response rate was 84.0%.
Guadalajara
The school response rate was 96.0%, the class response rate was 100.0%, the student response rate was 91.4%, and the overall response rate was 87.8%.
Juarez
The school response rate was 100.0%, the class response rate was 100.0%, the student response rate was 90.5%, and the overall response rate was 90.5%.
Mexico City
The school response rate was 100.0%, the class response rate was 100.0%, the student response rate was 92.7%, and the overall response rate was 92.7%.
Nuevo Laredo
The school response rate was 91.3%, the class response rate was 100.0%, the student response rate was 88.6%, and the overall response rate was 80.8%.
Puebla
The school response rate was 95.8%, the class response rate was 100.0%, the student response rate was 88.3%, and the overall response rate was 84.6%.
Oaxaca
The school response rate was 96.0%, the class response rate was 100.0%, the student response rate was 93.5%, and the overall response rate was 89.7%.
Tapachula
The school response rate was 96.0%, the class response rate was 98.6%, the student response rate was 91.7%, and the overall response rate was 86.8%.
Tijuana
The school response rate was 100.0%, the class response rate was 98.4%, the student response rate was 83.0%, and the overall response rate was 81.7%.

W1 - The inverse of the probability of selecting the school
W2 - The inverse of the probability of selecting the class within the school
f1 - a school-level nonresponse adjustment factor calculated by school size category (small, medium, large)
f2 - a class adjustment factor calculated by school
f3 - a student-level nonresponse adjustment factor calculated by class
f4 - a post stratification adjustment factor calculated by gender and grade

All data processing (scanning, cleaning, editing, and weighting) was conducted at the US Centers for Disease Control.
The user undertakes:
(1) to acknowledge the data source.
(2) to share any planned publications with WHO prior to publication.
(3) to offer co-authorship of any reports or publications using the survey results to the coordinator of the survey.
(4) to use the data for non-commercial, not-for-profit public health purposes only.
Publications based on GYTS data should use the following acknowledgement:
"This paper uses data from the Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS). GYTS is supported by the World Health Organization and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention."
The data is being distributed without warranty of any kind. The responsibility for the use of the data lies with the user. In no event shall the World Health Organization be liable for damages arising from its use.
