    STEPS is a household-based survey to obtain core data on the established risk factors that determine the major burden of NCDs.

    Notes

    The following topics were included in the survey: tobacco use, alcohol consumption, diet, physical activity, history of raised blood glucose, history of raised blood pressure, history of NCDs and lifestyle advice. Additionally, the following measures were taken: blood pressure, height, weight, waist circumference, hip circumference, heart rate and fasting blood glucose.

    Multi-level systematic sampling stratified by age group. All eligible adults in each selected household were invited to participate.
