Description In the MICS surveys, infant and under-five mortality rates are calculated using an indirect estimation technique known as the Brass method (the United Nations, 1983; 1990a; 1990b). These estimates have been calculated by averaging out mortality estimates obtained from women age 20-24 and 25-29, and refer to mid - 2003.
