    Abstract

The UNHCR Results Monitoring Survey (RMS) conducted in Burundi in December 2022 aimed to assess the impact and outcomes on education, healthcare, livelihoods, protection, shelter, and water and sanitation among persons of concern to the UNHCR. This included refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and returnees. The survey utilized a stratified sampling design, interviewing 796 households across 380 refugee, 325 returnee, and 91 IDP households, ensuring statistical representation. Data was gathered through face-to-face interviews using a standardized questionnaire available in French, Kirundi, and English, with the final data collection completed on December 18, 2022. The RMS provides critical insights to inform and guide UNHCR's multi-year strategic plans and stakeholder reporting.

    Sampling

    Sampling Procedure

The survey sampled 796 households in Burundi, including refugees, returnees, and internally displaced persons (IDPs). A stratified sampling design was employed to proportionally allocate interviews across these population groups, ensuring a balanced representation. The selection criteria considered geographical coverage and varied accommodation types, both within and outside of collective sites. This approach allows for a comprehensive understanding of the different experiences and needs within the surveyed populations.
