Agricultural Census [ag/census]
The FAO has developed a monitoring system in 26 food crisis countries to better understand the impacts of various shocks on agricultural livelihoods, food security and local value chains. The Monitoring System consists of primary data collected from households on a periodic basis (more or less every four months, depending on seasonality). he Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) launched a household survey in Zimbabwe through the Data in Emergencies Monitoring (DIEM-Monitoring) System to monitor agricultural livelihoods and food security. The survey commenced on 3 September 2022 and was resumed on 26 September 2022. The random sample of 1,441 households was representative at the administrative level 1 for eight of provinces. For ZWE R5, the household survey reached a total of 1,441 households. A two-step sampling approach was employed, utilizing administrative data as the sampling frame to ensure representativeness at the level of the eight provinces targeted. Within each of these provinces, clusters were selected with a probability of selection proportional to size, resulting in 30 clusters per province. Subsequently, 160 households were randomly selected from each province.
Weighting procedure, observations were weighted for demographic population by province to ensure that the sample accurately reflects the population distribution across provinces.
A link to the questionnaire has been provided in the documentation tab.
The dataset was anonymized using Statistical Disclosure methods by the Data in Emergencies Hub team and reviewed by the Office of Chief Statistician at FAO. All direct identifiers have been removed prior to data submission.
In addition, recoding and local suppressions were applied to ensure data confidentiality. Recoding was especially applied to the education, marital status, residence status and wealth variables.
