This variable indicates the incorporated municipality code of the area of enumeration of the household. The coding scheme generally follows the Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS).The coding of this variable was based on a listing of codes used for the 1990 U.S. census. The codes must be read in combination with one of the state variables ( US80B016 or US80B017) and the county variable US80B018.
