Nacido vivo, es todo niño(a) que al nacer manifiesta cualquier signo de vida como respirar, llorar o moverse. Si después llegara a fallecer, debe considerarse también como hijo(a) nacido vivo.

Se consulta si la mujer entre 13 y 50 años tuvo algún hijo nacido vivo en los últimos 12 meses, con el objetivo de contruir indicdores de fecundidad y mortalidad materna.
