<p><svar a="all" v="CR00A406 CR00A407"><span class="em">Question 5: Nationality</span><br /><br />This question refers to the legal condition of national or foreign that each person has with respect to the country in which the census is being given and permits determining the amount of foreigners residents in the country.<br /><br />[To the right of the text is a form.]<br /><br />They are Costa Rican by birth:<br /><br />a. Children of foreign mother and father but born in Costa Rica and registered as Costa Rican<br /><br />[Below the text is a picture of a baby and two parents.]<br /><br />Costa Ricans by naturalization are those who having been born abroad, acquire nationality by virtue of what the Costa Rican laws establish, once naturalization is dealt with and awarded by the Civil Registry of our country.<br /><br />They are of another nationality, those who do not have Costa Rican nationality neither by birth nor naturalization, [whether] they are legally or illegally in the country. In this case the nationality declared by the enumerated person will be registered.<br /><br /><span class="em">Keep In Mind</span><br /><br />If a person refuses to answer, make clear that the information is confidential and will be used in global [aggregate] statistics; it will not be supplied in an individual form to another institution.<br /></svar>
