Abstract
This is the text of the keynote address at the Africomm Conference, 12 October 2012, in Yaounde, Cameroon. The keynote postulates that ’ICT challenges in rural Africa and the impact of social aspects are much constrained by a science unaligned with the realities of sub Sahara Africa’. This address explains the mismatch and misalignment of social aspects and priorities and scientific practice in sub-Sahara academia, with specific contributions towards an Africanised expression of ICT. It expands its effects and affects, proposes an overview of antonyms between Western and African science, and provides some directions that can result in adaptation and alignment of ICT to the African reality.
