The way people do business is changing. Nowadays, if one needs to take a cab, they
will use the Easy Taxy app, if one needs to fly, they will buy tickets on a web page, they will
check in on line and probably save the boarding pass on a smartphone. It is an era where
experiences are shared on social networks. These days when one needs to complain, they will
reach the phone not to call the company, but to send a tweet, update their Facebook status or
leave a comment on Tripadvisor.
In the last 15 years, digital technologies have become very strong, and specifically
during the last seven years shared economies have spread all over the world with the rise of
companies like Airbnb, Uber, Zipcar, among others. Despite of the fact that shared economies
are not that common in the Ecuadorian market, some international firms have offered their
services in Ecuador with interesting results. However, there is still a long path to go through.
