Description In November 2003, two hundred and ten (210) clients and partners of the World Bank in Burkina Faso were invited to provide their opinions on the Bank?s assistance to the country by participating in a client survey. The client survey is part of the process of building relationships with clients and improving the development impact of the Bank?s activities. Participants in the survey were drawn from among senior government officials, staff of ministries and implementing agencies at both national and local levels, and representatives of the private sector, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), academics and researchers, the media, donors and financial partners. The survey used a mail- in questionnaire, which asked clients to indicate: their overall attitudes toward the Bank; which of the broad areas of the World Bank?s economic and social development activities bring the greatest value to the country; the importance of specific areas of the Bank?s work and the Bank's effectiveness in those areas, including the work of the Bank?s Country Office in Ouagadougou, and the Bank?s role in donor coordination and resource mobilization; clients? level of agreement with a series of statements about the way the World Bank does business, and how well the Bank works with other development partners in Burkina Faso. Clients were also asked to indicate on a list of general development issues facing Burkina Faso the level of priority with which they should be addressed, and to indicate their level of optimism for the future of the next generation in Burkina Faso. Those persons who have been directly involved in Bank-financed operations were asked additionally to indicate their level of agreement with a number of statements related to the design and implementation of projects and programs.
